The competition among the various social networking websites is becoming very stiff. New partnerships are explored with other entities in the virtual world in order to strengthen their position and enhance the features that are available within the sites. Bebo.com is one of the more aggressive players in the field of social networking. Reports have been released that it has entered into an agreement with Television NZ (TVNZ) in New Zealand. The terms would allow the latter to perform display as well as video promotions through Bebo.com. In exchange, the followers of Bebo are granted access to the different programs under TVNZ while logged on to the website.

Bebo.com claims to have a subscriber base of at least 38 million. It users are spread worldwide and membership is continually growing each day. Bebo.com is currently ranked first in the New Zealand market in the area of social networking websites. It merits the biggest number of views over any other kind of websites in New Zealand alone. Studies revealed that a New Zealand member devotes an average of approximately 43.6 minutes daily in the site.

The recently concluded tie-up between Bebo.com and TVNZ would be beneficial to both parties in terms of the exposure and more importantly, on the financial aspects.

Web users are generally familiar with Facebook and MySpace, the acknowledged leaders in their fields in the virtual world today. Completing the triad of social networking sites that is attracting the attention of Internet fanatics would be Bebo.com. Despite its not so strong presence in the United States where the top 2 players are competing head to head, Bebo is slowly carving its niche in the United Kingdom.

This so-called “British invasion of Bebo” is connected with the recent development that the adulation received by this particular site from British teenagers can be likened to their admiration for teen heart throbs as well as rock bands. July figures gathered by comScore revealed that Bebo generated roughly 10.6 million unique views with the average user spending an estimated 38 minutes.

The alliance between Bebo and Yahoo are anticipated to be mutually beneficial for both parties as regards traffic and promotional exposure. Interactive drama like Kate Modern is contributing to the success of Bebo.com and a second series is already in the works.

Bebo has a long term vision covering markets in other countries. Aside from establishing its presence in Australia and New Zealand where English is the major language, it is also looking at creating native-language sites specifically catering to the citizens of France, Italy, Germany, Spain and Poland.

British socializing network Bebo had joined Yahoo and has agreed to have a deal for exclusive Yahoo ads to their site www.bebo.com

This is just a part of Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang’s plan for recovery and will probably be extended to other networking sites in the future. The deal with Bebo will only cover the United Kingdom and Ireland because Bebo is the most popular social networking site in UK unlike other networking sites such as facebook.

Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang plans to spread out their advertisements from different venues. The agreement with Bebo is followed by the purchase of Rights Media which is an online advertising business that’s worth 680 million U.S. dollars and another 300 million U.S. dollar deal to purchase BlueLithium which is the second largest advertising network in the United Kingdom and it is also the fifth largest advertising network in the United States.

UK has high ad percentage compared to any other country with web advertisements that is more than the global average. They have an ad percentage of 11.4%. With the deal, bebo and yahoo would reach 75% UK audience and will penetrate the 16-24 year-old crowd quite strongly.

Alliances are formed for many reasons, either to solidify one’s ranking or to increase the chances of reaching the top eventually. In the virtual world, agreements are forged between and among the various players in order to maximize their coverage, reach their target customers and produce higher revenues.

Yahoo has recently closed an agreement with Bebo.com for the former’s advertisements requirements. The deal involved putting in strategic places within the social networking website Yahoo’s ads and promotions. In essence, Bebo.com will act as an advertising platform since its users are bound to log in to check their respective pages everyday. This partnership comes on the heels of similar agreements between Google and MySpace, as well as Microsoft and Facebook.

Although considered small compared to its peers, Bebo.com’s strength lies on the fact that it ranks number one in Ireland and in the United Kingdom . In a report released by Nielsen NetRatings covering Britain for the month of August, Bebo.com posted roughly 345 million in terms of ‘ad impressions’ as it has the ability to ensure that its user base look at the ads that are provided their way. Facebook is second with 318 million while MySpace registered only 280 million.
